I have been looking on the internet for an updated firmware for this nas but cant find anything other than adverts from people selling them.
I was wondering if there is a firmware made by the community like dd-wrt which im running in my asus router.
I only want to do this because if a friend is connected through ftp and downloading say a 300mb file it will kick them half way through it and they have to reconnect to finish the download.
Its pritty much feature less for a nas i thought and was wondering what other cool things this nas could do. Only one way to find out and ask.
Im new to the nas thing so if you can help out i would be very happy and i may even pick a few things up on the way.
If you need any more infomation please ask if needed.
Thx in advance.

Hi,
Did you get any replies from anywhere else on this?
I have the same piece of kit and I'm not very impressed with the OS.
I'd like to change it but of course there's no CD and no SSH.
Does anyone know if this can be booted from USB?
Or how to log in to it rather than going through the web portal?

I have one of these, been using it for the past month. Manuals and documentation is rubbish but so far i have it working as FTP and Print server and all is working ok. I did read somewhere that another manufactured NAS uses the exact same O/S so there may be better documentation out there somewhere, will keep looking for now I think.

I've not had any joy in my attempts to access this box or contact anyone regarding further information.
I read somewhere that most of these embedded devices use a redboot boot loader that listens for telnet connections during bootup, but had no luck connecting on any of the default ip and port combinations suggested.
I've tried sending emails to guessed email addresses i.e. support and admin but they're all returned.
MT Electronics appear to be a supplier for sumvision products in the UK, strangely they also own the domain names for sumvision.com.cn, sumvision.co.uk & sum-vision.co.uk. I tried emailing them on their sales email address but no response.
I even tried emailing Visionstor the company who developed the web interface in the hope they'd know of a back door, but no response from them either.
All in all very unsatisfactory, its a shame really, I like the product and it does what I want most of the time. The torrent client has problems though and that's what I'd like to change, it just becomes un-responsive if download speed exceeds a certain value. It's keeps downloading so that's not a problem, it just means I can't check on its progress.
It's frustrating really, they obviously don't care about upgrading the system themselves, I doubt we'll ever see a firmware upgrade from them. You can't even download the existing firmware from their website or the packages for the BT and eDonkey services.
